Juice on the Corner: A Fresh Take on Llano
Some businesses serve great food.
Others become part of the community.
After spending the morning at Juice on the Corner, it became clear that this little corner café has become both.
When most people think about Llano, they probably picture barbecue, hunting, the Llano River and the Texas Hill Country. Fresh-pressed juice and acai bowls might not be the first things that come to mind, but that's exactly what makes Juice on the Corner such a special addition to the community.
Owner Liz had a vision of creating a place where healthy eating didn't mean driving to a bigger city. She wanted to make fresh, thoughtfully sourced food accessible right here in Llano while creating a space that supported other local businesses along the way.
Today, Juice on the Corner has grown into much more than a juice bar.
Every week, fruits and vegetables are transformed into fresh-pressed juices packed with flavor. Their menu is filled with creative smoothies, colorful acai bowls, avocado toast, grilled cheese on locally baked sourdough, coffee, lattes and wholesome breakfast and lunch options that prove healthy food can still be comforting and satisfying.
Of course, I couldn't leave without trying a little bit of everything.
I started with one of their fresh-pressed Texas Sunshine juices before digging into a almond butter and strawberry acai bowl topped with bananas, honey and fresh local granola. I also enjoyed one of the best grilled cheeses I've had in a long time, made with fresh sourdough from a local baker and locally sourced cheeses. Every bite reflected the same care and attention that carries throughout the entire business.
But what impressed me most wasn't actually the food.
It was what happened after I looked beyond the menu.
Connected to the café is a thoughtfully curated local market filled with products from farms, ranches and small businesses throughout the Highland Lakes and Central Texas. Fresh produce, local meats, honey, mushrooms, baked goods, pantry staples and specialty products line the shelves, giving customers an opportunity to support dozens of local businesses during a single visit.
As I walked through the market, I found myself talking with one of the local vendors whose products are sold inside the shop. They shared the story behind their business, where their ingredients come from and the care that goes into every step of the process. It reminded me of something I've noticed while exploring communities across the Highland Lakes.
People here genuinely care where their food comes from.
That philosophy is reflected throughout Juice on the Corner.
Fresh mushrooms come from Enchanted Mushrooms right in Llano. Honey comes from veteran-owned Hives for Hero’s. Gluten free bread and jams from Under the Mountain. MTX Beef in Mason provides locally raised beef that's processed on site. Ready-to-bake pizzas and homemade banana bread from The Little Lemon Pantry support a family navigating their daughters autism diagnosis. Even the leftover fruit and vegetable pulp from fresh pressing days is donated to Gathering Ranch, making sure as little as possible goes to waste.
These aren't just products sitting on shelves.
They're stories.
They're families.
They're neighbors supporting neighbors.
That same sense of community extends to the people behind the counter.
Juice on the Corner is truly a family business. Liz works alongside her nephew Jesse, her mom Kathy and her sister Joi, creating an atmosphere that immediately feels warm and welcoming. Families gather around the children's play area while locals stop in for breakfast, coffee or a smoothie before starting their day. There are even a few hidden Star Wars details tucked throughout the shop that reflect Liz's personality and add another layer of charm to the space.
As we talked throughout the morning, it became obvious that Juice on the Corner isn't trying to chase trends.
It's building something lasting. A place where healthy food is approachable. A place where local farmers and makers have another opportunity to share what they create. A place where families can gather. And a place that encourages people to slow down, enjoy a good meal and feel connected to the community around them.
That's what makes Juice on the Corner one of my Highland Lakes Hot Spots.
It's not just because the smoothies are exceptional or because the fresh-pressed juice tastes incredible. It's because every decision inside this little corner café feels intentional. Every menu item. Every local partnership. Every shelf in the market. Every conversation.
